The Oxford Brewers Alliance has made very generous donations to four charities, three are locally based in Oxfordshire and one with a close connection to the brewers involved. Four amazing charities have benefitted from the proceeds raised from the Oxford Beer Bash, a popular Oxford festival which was held over several years, plus the generous sponsorship of NFU Insurance.
The four charities that have been chosen are:
Helen & Douglas House is a hospice based in East Oxford and helps local families cope with the challenges of looking after a terminally ill baby or child. It is a homely place for local children, living with life-limiting and terminal conditions. They provide care in a warm, loving environment. The hospice is filled with laughter, whilst also being peaceful place where families can create happy memories in their last times together.
The donation from the Oxford Brewers will be used over a number of projects including buying craft materials for the children, funding play and music therapy sessions and providing bereavement support for families who have lost their child.
The Earth Trust at Little Wittenham near Abingdon inspire people to address climate, biodiversity and wellbeing with the power of natural green spaces. Their mission is to champion access and engagement with natural green spaces for everyone, and together take action for people and the planet. The Trust use their nature reserves and education hubs to demonstrate nature-based solutions and the power of engaging people with the natural world, in order to influence more accessible and better green spaces.
The OBA donation will help enable Earth Trust to create new walking routes through flower-rich chalk meadows, develop the ancient woodland, and enhance working farmland with nature-friendly practices. Creating a place for people to explore, play, and begin a lifelong relationship with nature.
North Oxfordshire Aid is a group based in Banbury who are dedicated to supporting the people of Ukraine. Very practical humanitarian aid is provided by sourcing real-life supplies such as vehicles, generators, clothing, shoes, prams, dry foods and household goods and then crucially, delivering directly from the UK to the people of Ukraine.
The donation will be used to purchase and equip a fire engine and then take it directly to Ukraine to be used for the emergency help of their people.
The Licenced Trade Charity has been working since 1793 to support people who work or have worked in the licensed drinks industry who are facing a crisis such as mental health, housing, health issues or money worries – with practical advice on wellbeing, financial support, education and financial guidance.
The donation will be used to help people in the licenced trade and hospitality industry experiencing ill health, reduced wellbeing or financial hardship due to a personal setback. Funding support services, grants and practical guidance that are designed to help people get back on their feet, build resilience and move forward with confidence.
The Oxford Brewers Alliance is a non-profit collective of breweries based in the Oxford region, working together to support the local beer industry and community. For several years the Oxford Beer Bash, held at the Oxford Distillery was a popular beer and drinks festival, the event was also sponsored by NFU Insurance, and the proceeds of those events can now support four great charities and the work they do.
